Dr. Sagar Khatale is a Library and Information Science professional with 14 years of experience in academic librarianship, currently serving as Librarian at K. J. Somaiya Institute of Dharma Studies (formerly K. J. Somaiya Bharatiya Sanskriti Peetham). He earned his Bachelor's and Master's in Library and Information Science from Savitribai Phule Pune University, qualified the UGC-NET in 2012, and completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Library Automation and Networking in 2014.
In January 2025 he was awarded a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University for his doctoral research on the altmetric analysis of scholarly articles in Library and Information Science. Since August 2023 he has taught Information and Communication Technology, Data Management and Information Retrieval Systems to M.L.I.Sc. students.

He has published 11 research papers in reputed journals and conferences, with research interests in Altmetrics, Digital Literacy, Scholarly Communication and Research Impact Assessment.
